Prof. Dr. Zakir Kaya — Independent Investigative Journalist, Author, Poet, and Civil Society Leader

Born in 1963 in Ağrı, Turkey, Prof. Dr. Zakir Kaya is an İzmir-based independent investigative journalist, author, poet, and prominent civil society advocate. Holding honorary professorships in philology and journalism, he is recognized for his contributions to intercultural communication and ethical journalism.

He has authored 14 books, translated numerous works, produced thousands of broadcasts, and written countless manifestos, editorials, and essays. His media productions—including “Zakir Kaya ile Yüz Yüze” (Face to Face with Zakir Kaya), “Zakir Kaya ile Hayata Dair” (On Life with Zakir Kaya), and “Sözün Güç Noktası” (The Power Point of Words)—have reached wide audiences, shaping a “public conscience language” in the media.

Kaya has presented programs for TRT Kent Radio, Cyprus TV, Dünya TV, and other national and international outlets, using journalism as a platform for public awareness. His work has earned distinctions such as “Journalist of the Year,” “The People’s Journalist,” and “Journalist Contributing to Peace.” Honored by Azerbaijan with honorary professorship and Writers’ Union membership, his works are archived in the Presidential Library.

As founder and chairman of Kaya Haber Ajansı (KHA) and KNG, he has organized 11 international award ceremonies, presenting ethical recognition to over 500 individuals and institutions—now continued through the “Zakir Kaya Medals.” His philosophy emphasizes peace, environmental responsibility, cultural understanding, and the moral refinement of media language.
